Advantages of an independent suspension. The suspension of a modern car is required, that it absorbs as much as possible shocks caused by uneven roads and that it gives the car a good grip on the road. In both cases, the independent suspension has an advantage over the dependent suspension (stiff). The independence of the wheels improves the car's stability and improves the damping of vibrations. Therefore, independent front wheel suspension is used today in all passenger cars. Independent rear wheel suspension, because of the more complicated design, it is found less frequently. In trucks, due to the heavy load, a rigid suspension is usually used. Some cars are an exception, e.g. Tatra with independent rear wheel suspension and some military off-road vehicles.
