■ Remove the brake drum
Before assembly, withdraw the toothed wheel of the expander as far as it will go. Install the brake drum and secure with the bolt. Spread the hub position in the contact area with the wheel disc thinly with bearing grease. Press the brake pedal several times to bring the jaws together.
The basic nominal dimensions of the brake drum are given in section 1. The inside diameter is measured with a caliper ovalization of the drum, felt during braking in the form of pulsation of the pedal, or deep grooves on the work surface can be removed by boring. During processing, the diameter of the drum must not be excessively enlarged. Boring is performed on a lathe equipped with a centering chuck.
After finishing, the circularity deviation may be max. 0,1 Mm. You should always bore both drums to the same diameter. Assuming remanufactured drums, use new thick friction linings 5,6 Mm.
