Not only. I have already mentioned the cost. The more complicated the suspension, the better, but at the same time its execution is more expensive, it raises the price of the car. From a technical point of view, there is one condition for a suspension: the wheel must always run in a vertical plane. And then the constructor considers other conditions: or is it a sports car, serving for fast, dynamic driving, or a comfortable large limousine to ensure the most comfortable travel. The size of the car is also important. Applying even the most technically sophisticated multi-link systems to a small car of the Cinquecento type will not significantly improve the driving comfort., it will only increase costs. Therefore, relatively cheap McPherson struts are used in such cases. And vice versa – in the large Audi A6 limousine you cannot save on the suspension, propose the simplest solution, because the buyer expects great comfort from such a car.
