Setting wheel alignment
The steering gear must be in a position suitable for driving straight ahead. In addition, the clamp bolt on the steering shaft must lie horizontally on top, take the steering wheel to a position symmetrical to the axis.
The use of an optical diagnostic tool is recommended for checking toe-in. If you do not have such an instrument, toe-in can be done as follows. In all cases, checking and adjustment of toe-in must be performed on both track rods. Put the front wheels straight ahead. Use the sliding ruler to measure the distance between the rear edges of the left and right discs. at the height of the hub spigot nut. Mark the height of the measuring point on the tire with chalk. Roll the car like this, to make the wheels rotate by 180 and the chalk mark was at the same height in front of the car. Hold the steering wheel while turning. Measure the distance between the wheel discs again. in places marked with chalk.
If the difference between the measured distances differs from the required value, then loosen the clamps on the right and left steering rods. Turn the adjusting pins, each to an equal degree, so as to obtain the required wheel alignment.
A difference in the length of the steering rods to 5 Mm. Retighten the bolts of the clamps on the rods and check the toe-in setting again.
