It often happens in the field, that less experienced equipment operators add gear oils to the engine oil to improve "grease."” or to improve compression in run-down engines. This causes a general reduction of oil properties and a rapid increase in carbon deposits, and overall, it shortens the life of the engine. Some construction units consume, in spite of the regulations, high-quality engine oils for lubricating the external parts of construction equipment, parts, which should be lubricated with machine oil or grease. Such an economy means a criminal waste of high-quality engine oils and leads to the rapid wear of machine parts. It also happens that the wrong lubricants are used, like for example. using greases intended for rolling bearings to lubricate open gears or other types of bearings, improper use of cylinder oil, etc.. When selecting oils and greases for a given equipment unit, refer to the lubrication instructions provided, seek advice from CPN, in the case of motor vehicles, refer to the "Petroleum Products Application Table."” CPN. The issue of oil regeneration is also an issue of utmost importance. The obligation to return used high-value oils for regeneration is often not respected and is used for secondary purposes, e.g. for lubrication of external parts of equipment, wood impregnation, etc.. These signs of wastage must be resolutely combated. Organize the collection of used oils and greases according to their grouping and sending them to the CPN for regeneration. It often happens, that workers who manually lubricate parts of the equipment do not carelessly, causing a significant part of the lubricant to flow from the lubricated point to the base of the equipment or its parts, which do not need lubrication. The amounts of supplied oils and greases should rotate within the limits ensuring the normal operation of the equipment. A common symptom is overfeeding of oil, cylinder for cylinders of steam engines. This wastes expensive cylinder oil and reduces the operating time of the steam equipment by the formation of piston ring deposits and excessive bore forming.. Also, avoid over-lubrication of rolling bearings in a sealed housing, which not only leads to excessive use of the lubricant, but presents the possibility of damaging the bearings.
