Horse plows – Untreated plows

Horse plows – Untreated plows.

The untrained plows are of the simplest construction. The plow body is connected to the plow, at the end of which there is a plowing depth and width regulator and a tow hook. Chippers are used to maintain the balance of the plow during operation. The change of the plowing depth or width is made by changing the position of the tow hook in relation to the bog. To deepen the plowing, the hitch of the hitch in the plowing depth regulator moves up or the ties are lengthened, for which the horse-drawn cart is pulled. When making the plowing shallow, the opposite is true. The plowing depth can also be adjusted by the momentary pressure on the semi-trailers (shallowing of the plowing) or raising them up.
In order to widen the plowing, the drawbar in the width adjuster is moved towards the plowed field. Thanks to this, the beam will be tilted towards the body, which will move the body in the same direction, that is, obtaining a wider furrow. In order to reduce the plowing width, the drawbar should be shifted in the opposite way than when increasing it. For easier steering of untrained plows, their beam is sometimes supported on a special wheel. Such a support of the beam allows to maintain a more even plowing depth and facilitates the plow guidance.
