Bleeding of the VP44 injection pump

Bleeding of the VP44 injection pump

After mounting the injection pump to the engine or pouring fuel into the tank, when it was completely empty earlier, it is essential to fill the injection pump with diesel fuel. This is done with an electric fuel pump or a dual-action hand pump. You must pay attention to this, that there is at least 5 l of fuel, and all fuel lines are properly connected. The electric fuel pump or hand pump must be connected to the overflow hose connector. Before that, unscrew the overflow throttle valve, to which the overflow pipe is screwed and in this place screw in the hollow bolt with the ring coupler put on. A transparent flexible conduit is connected to the coupler, and to its other end – a pump. The pump should be running that long, until the fuel flowing from the injection pump is free of air bubbles. Then, after removing the pump, screw the overflow throttle valve back in and try to start the engine. However, the startup time should not exceed 20 s. If the engine does not “start” right away, then another attempt to start is repeated after waiting at least 30 s.
