Tyrrell's failure did not alienate designers from other teams. March started halfway through 1976 work on his six-wheeler 0 symbol 2-4-0, which, for a change, was equipped with two powered rear axles (following the example of older Pat Clancy Special designs, starting in 1948 year in Indianapolis 500 or Mercedes Type 80, which in 1939 r. was to break speed records on land). Initially, there was gossip, that the other axle will not be driven, and the entire project was blown up to raise funds. March's first press show 2-4-0 it ended in failure – just after moving off, the overloaded gearbox collapsed.
The first serious tests were successfully carried out at the beginning of the season 1977. Test driver Howden Ganley marveled at the amazing traction after a drive in the rain on Silverstone, smooth power transmission and traction when exiting corners. However, there were not enough funds for the development and implementation of this project, and the prototype was sold. He then competed in mountain races.
