The main danger when driving in winter conditions is the possibility of skidding on snow or water (or both at the same time). This risk increases with increasing tire width. Therefore, when using winter tires, you should never buy tires wider than your summer tires. It is even recommended to buy tires with a smaller width (of course, with a constant outer diameter).
The vast majority of modern tires are tubeless. The bead is a particularly important part of these tires from the safety point of view (the part of the tire in direct contact with the rim). This part of the tire is susceptible to damage when mounting / dismounting the tires from the rim. For this reason, when deciding to put on winter tires, it is worth buying an additional set of rims so that there is no need to install the tires each time after the end of the season.. Additional hoops should be made of steel.
Winter tires are often directional tires and must always be fitted in the rolling direction – marked with an arrow on the side of the tire – no matter if it is the front axle, rear or drive.
