What is a McPherson column – It is also the most popular suspension solution for many years, especially the front wheels, mainly used in popular and middle class cars.
It consists of a telescopic shock absorber, coil spring and swingarm (possibly a stabilizer bar).
The advantage of the McPherson strut is its simple structure, and therefore also a fairly low cost of execution and such operation, that regardless of the forces that occur, the wheel always moves in the vertical plane. This is true even then, when the car wheel runs into a hole or hits a rough road. Such behavior of the McPherson strut, in turn, ensures high stability of the car in all road conditions.
