AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The automatic gearbox bears the designation 125 TH M and was installed from May 1981 year together with the engines 1.3 and 1.6 D.
Particular cleanliness must be observed during the performance of all works. The tools used must also be completely clean. When dismantling the gearbox, it is recommended to keep the parts verified and set aside these. to be replaced. This is especially true of the washers, circlips and pins.
Checking and topping up the oil
The oil level in the automatic transmission is checked with the engine running, when the gear selection lever is in the "P”. The check can be carried out both on the cold, and a hot gearbox.
Cold gearbox
The check must be done within 1…3 min from the moment the engine is started. There is still too little oil in the circuit in the first minute of engine operation. However, after 3 After the engine has run for minutes, the thermocouple is closed and the oil does not return from the gearbox body to the oil pan. The outside temperature must not exceed + 35°C. Remove the dipstick and read the oil level on the side marked "+ 20 ° C". Oil reaching up to the mark .. MAX” means, that the gearbox is properly filled. If the oil level is at 5 mm below this line, it should be added 0.25 dm³ of oil.
Gearbox hot
The inspection should be performed with the gearbox warmed up to normal operating temperature. This state can be achieved after driving at least 20 km by motorway or a correspondingly longer section on other types of road. Remove the dipstick and read the oil level on the side marked "+ 94°C” The oil level should be between the marks ,,MAX‘’ in my”. The difference between these marks corresponds to the portion 0.5 dm³ of oil.
The gear oil is poured through a clean funnel into the tube, in which the measuring cup is located. Only oil intended for automatic gearboxes may be used (ATF).
